Decorating your living space isn’t just about the inside; it’s about the outside too! We all know outdoor furniture can cost a pretty penny but having a dreary outdoor space with a few white plastic chairs or a lack luster effort of mismatched and outdated furniture – is not for you. We’ve put together some great design tips for you to use in any outside space.

Haven In The City

City girls need a quiet oasis too. Just because you live in an apartment or have a tiny balcony or patio with limited space, doesn’t mean you cannot create a great outdoor space. Work with what you have. Create an intimate space with simple items. When you have a limited space to work with the key is not to clutter your space with a lot of items. Create a space for your hobby.

If you are an avid reader create a simple space for reading your favorite novel. Add a comfortable chair and a few accessories to make your space stylish. Use patterned outdoor cushions and a side table for a glass of wine or snacks.

Do you have a green thumb? Use the space to make a haven for your plants. Group like plants together and decorate with pops of colorful planters or flowers. Add a shelf to keep your gardening tools.

If you have a beautiful view of the city make an intimate setting that allows you to enjoy views with a glass of wine. If you cannot squeeze in seating, add some foliage that is neat and easy to maintain.

 Suburban Paradise

If you are lucky enough to have your own backyard or a sizable patio, you will have more space to work with. Regardless of the design of your yard, you can make your outdoor space work all kinds of fabulous with this important tip:

If you love entertaining on warm summer nights, you can create a beautiful dining space by finding an architectural feature in your back yard. It could even be your backyard fence. If you are a DIY guru you can build simple outdoor seating like this or get some wooden crates from your local DIY store. Throw some outdoor pillows, a dining table and some accessories and voila, you have the perfect outdoor entertaining space!

For those who don’t have much of a yard but have a sunroom with large windows, don’t be afraid to bring the outside inside. Surround the room with plants and get a day bed. Lounge around and enjoy summer indoors. This is perfect for lazy sunny Sundays or when the rain creates a mood for soup and cuddles.
