The thought of cleaning up the kid’s room is terrifying. That means the thought of cleaning out their closet is even worse. Deciding whether or not to really give it away or keep it can be very time consuming. The process of cleaning out a closet doesn’t have to be so difficult. Let your child join in on the process of operation organized closet. Here are a few tips to cleaning out your kid’s closet
Empty The Closet- Sometimes operation clean the closet turns into rearranging the closet. Take everything from top to bottom out of the closet. Let your child help you to create a pile of clothes to keep, throw, or give away.
Create Piles- Summer, Spring, Winter and Fall. Summer and Spring can be grouped together and Winter and Fall can be grouped together. If it is spring or summer put those clothing items forward in the closet and put cold weather clothes under the bed in a bin.
Accessories- Use baskets and boxes to keep things sorted and stored. Scarves, winter hats and gloves can all be placed in boxes. Boxes can be the solution for tea sets and doll clothes that tend to create build up at the bottom of the closet. Use hooks to hang belts, hats and backpacks. For the independent child who won’t wait for you to take his clothes out provide him with a step ladder. It will prevent him from just tugging at clothing items and creating a mess at the bottom of the closet.
An organized closet will help your kids find what they’re looking for without making a mess. A well planned closet will also teach your child the importance of being organized. An organized closet will help them to find their favorite things faster. Most kids aren’t thrilled about cleaning. Involving your little one in the process of cleaning out the closet will show them how time consuming the task can be. It will make them think twice about hanging up there coat or just throwing random items in the bottom of their closet.
