  1. Light Fixtures: Changing your lamps or your ceiling fans can be what brings your room together when redecorating. Light fixtures can bring so much personality into your room, step outside the box and go for bold, unique lamps or ceiling fans, or if you wish to keep your current hanging light, but don’t like the globes; replace the globes with a new design and a splash of color. Find lamps or ceiling fans that bring in good lighting. Good lighting can give an illusion of a bigger room.
  2. Mirrors: Mirrors can do so many things from reflecting light, opening up your space and just enhancing your décor. So for that small room add some mirrors and you will notice how different the room will look. Place mirrors in an area that will reflect that nice piece of artwork that you just brought or in front of something that you don’t mind being noticed. If you have a mirror, try revamping it by adding a glamourous picture frame over top of it. Don’t know what to put over the fireplace or in the foyer, just add a flashy sunburst mirror to spice up that area.
  3. Wall Art: Finding great artwork or wall art can be the key to sprucing up a room. Finding the right piece depends on your taste. For instance, take some of your favorite pictures that were taken during one of your vacations or even some keepsake postcards that you received and frame them. Or if you have a large wall that you don’t know what to do with – find a large piece of art to occupy the space like a large disc or large abstract artwork pieces. Thrift stores and yard sales can be the best place to find artwork. Another man’s trash can be your treasure, you just never know what you may find.
  4. Rugs: You can do so much with rugs. You can layer your rugs, having a big plain rug and then a smaller rug with a pattern on top. The rug you choose should bring in a pop of color or have an edgy pattern that ties in the room. Or if you are the swank yuppie type, try to find a rug that look as refined as you are. There are so many inexpensive look-a-like oriental rugs that can make your place look just as classy as you. Just like mirrors, rugs can make a small space seem big and beautiful
  5. Window Dressing: Changing curtains or blinds can be the difference between night and day. If you have tons of windows in an open space or even in a single room – capitalize on the natural light, but using scarf’s or half curtains to frame the window. If you like your privacy, there are so many blinds in different styles and textures that can give your room definition. If you like the wooden blinds, but not the wood price, go with faux wood blinds. They are just as nice, but a fraction of the cost. Using curtains that has texture or a nice pattern can be that statement piece you need.

The best places that you can shop on any tight budget are Home Goods, Marshalls, Ross, Target, and Walmart.
