Each year families come together to celebrate thanksgiving and to have much needed quality time. For my family we have never really had a fancy table set up, it is more so the food on display that is in the middle of the tables. I’m not sure how many other families share this same history as myself but this year I want to showcase some not so traditional table décor for the holiday.

You know the pumpkins that you purchased for Halloween? Well you can take them and spray-paint them gold with Kyron glitter blast which can be found at any fabric stores or your local Walmart. Which you can do the same for leaves that you find in your backyard. You can also gather acorns from outside and put glue on the tips of them and roll it in gold flitter. The effects are amazing!! Be sure to pick up a table runner as well or fabric and have the worker cut the dimensions for you.

These plates can be customized with quotes, family name or just a word. Personalizing them to the people that are coming would melt there heart. The plates in the picture are real china, but you can find a look alike at Party City (White Gold Trimmed Premium Plastic Dinner Plates). They are priced at $9.99 for 10 and you can also find a gold pen to write on them there. The Oak Leaf Wood Placemat can be found at Crate&Barrel, as well as the napkins.

This setup is so intimate and perfect for the season. Eating thanksgiving dinner by candlelight would definitely be a change of pace. Just picture your family gathered around the table sharing memories and letting everyone know what they are grateful for. As the host you can place cards on each plate set with a message or poem. The lanterns can be found at your local Michael’s craft shop along with the tall candles. To make sure it’s not too dark be sure to include smaller candles around the dining room as well as on the table. If you are unable to find over-sized acorns you can find them at Joann fabrics, Target or Hobby Lobby.

Bed Bath & Beyond has diverse LED lighted branches that will give this table setting the look that you love ranging anywhere from $10.99-$40.00. They can be place in a glass vase and you can add small acorns, corn kernels and artificial grass. This look gives me a cross between thanksgiving and Christmas, which will make a great transition into the next season’s holiday.
