Barbecue season is here! Bring out the decorations, marinate the meat and fire up the grill! We all love the smell of barbecue in the air, great company, and good food. Summers are synonymous with long days, family dinners, parties and reunions, but let’s not forget the annoying things that come with it. Bugs, dirty dishes and the terrible smoke filled clothes and hair can make the experience unpleasant. Since this is a problem that happens every summer, we are here to rescue you with quick fixes that will make every barbecue a great experience.
Unwanted guests
So you’ve got your menu together, perfected your barbecue skills and sides to the tea. Now it’s time to dig in. As you savor your well-made food, you have this buzzing bug and itchy bites to disturb you. If you have a well-lit area or some outside lights you usually use in the evening, try switching them off and substituting the artificial light for candle light. Get some fragrant candles and set the ambiance for a lovely eating experience. Buy some Tiki torches and surround your table area with them. All you need is three. Tiki torches and fragrant candles will reduce your unwanted bug visitors to more than half.
Dirty Dishes
Love cooking for everyone but hate the clean up? Using the Styrofoam plates are not exactly the most stylish décor item, but they come in very handy. Choose some foam trays instead of the round plates. Unlike the round plates, the foam trays can fit a lot more food and are sectioned. You and your guests don’t have to pack up a heap and mix up your food. They are very durable and can house up to five different food items. Pair the plates with decorated disposable spoons in assorted colors or patterns.
Barbecue infused perfume?
We all have had the experience of attending or hosting a barbecue and leaving smelling like we sprayed the barbecue all over. To avoid the barbecue smell as a guest, sit away from the direction of the wind. The reason for our clothes smelling like barbecue is because we always tend to sit in the direction of the smoke. As the host, it’s easy to tell what direction the wind is facing by lighting up the grill and seeing which direction the smoke goes. Stand in the opposite direction of the wind and you’ll reduce your chances of smelling like the menu drastically!
