The struggle of keeping an organized kitchen can be extremely difficult when you are dealing with multiple people in and out of your home. It’s hard to stay organized when there’s more than one person living in a space. You walk in the kitchen one minute everything is in it’s right place, and you come back an hour later and three people have fixed plated foods and made a disaster. Part of being Modern and Domestic means that we are always growing and implementing new ideas all while still valuing traditional lessons our mother’s taught us. Here are a few of our favorite organization tools we’d love to share with you!

Keep Important Things At Eye Level

You know the saying “out of sight out of mind?” Well that is very true, but if it’s an important necessity then needs to always be seen! Make sure you put the must-have items that you often run out of at eye level so that you notice when you are running low. Things like napkins, tissue, your favorite cereal bars that get your day started, etc. Though they are all pantry or cabinet items, they should be the first thing we notice when we open those doors so that you don’t forget to restock them.

Invest In Shelving

One of the best ways to add organization is to add custom shelving. Our parents once used a bakers rack, well a shelving system in your kitchen is a modern twist to the traditional usage. It’s multipurpose for storage also functions dually for displaying some of your beautiful kitchen accessories, like mixing bowls, cook books and family recipes!

Store Spices In Drawers Not Cabinets

Small items like spices take up way too much space when storing them in cabinets because it’s hard to stack such small items so you end of using all of your lower level for spice storage; then you have to physically pull all of the spices out to find the one you want to use. Save the time and space by aligning your spices face up in a drawer; this displays all of your spice in a more organized way.

Invest In Cabinet Organizers

It’s so annoying when those pots and pans come tumbling down while you open the cabinet door and reach for one small pot. Avoid the hassle but purchasing cabinet organizers from your local home store! It will keep your cabinet space much more functional and spacious so that you can store many more dishes.
