Warm weather and longer days means Spring is finally gracing us with her presence and it’s time to get your home ready for Spring.
Muddy season?
The snow may be melting, but if you don’t have a concrete drive way and a back yard, you may fall victim to the muddy puddles all over your yard. If you have muddy puddles from melted snow, head over to your local Home Depot or Lowes to get a temporary fix. There are more permanent options like getting a landscaper to do some stone or concrete installation on the driveway or in the yard, but if you are on a tight budget you can find a quick fix. Applying wood chips on the affected area will help your yard dry out the muddy areas for the season. Get someone handy to help you level out the chips for an even ground.
Greenery
Adding foliage to your home will definitely bring Spring indoors. Succulents are a great choice as they are easy to take care of and have vibrant colors and unique shapes. These are perfect for any space and climate. If you are working with limited space, you can use affordable garden pots that are easy for you to mix and match with your decor to create unique and stylish focal points indoors and outdoors. If you live in a concrete jungle with little to no greenery, you can consider succulents to soften up hard landscapes and spaces. The hard textures and geometric lines can be balanced out with pops of color and shapes.
Color trends
Pastels are in for Spring. You can pair soft pastels with deep bold colors with a fresh coat of paint or new accessories. You can mix and match accessories like neutrals and patterns, vintage and glam or lavenders and bold prints with your current décor to make sure your home stays trendy all year round.
Spring fixes
Your fixtures may have buildup from the season. If you have any lime buildup, lay paper towels or rags on the faucets and soak with vinegar. You have to let it set for about one hour. All the lime deposits will soften up and become easy to wipe off. If you have chrome, stainless steel or glass appliances, make a mixture of 50 percent rubbing alcohol and 50 percent water. Spray on the areas and wipe away after an hour.
Wash outdoor furniture and clean out the gutters. The snow will have battered your furniture for months, but it’s nothing some mild dishwashing detergent can’t fix. Detergents should work for a good number of materials, however, do check your care labels. Be proactive and take measures early to clear leaves and snow. Checking your gutters for damage like leaks and rust, as well as clearing out debris built up from fall and winter, will save you time spent outside scooping up piles of wet leaves and give you more time to plan spring festivities.
