85 percent of women are obsessed with diamonds, fashion, men and handbags while the other 15 percent of us are obsessed with paint. Paint is king as it relates to home décor. Paint can transform any room or space like no other!

In order to transform your space with paint, one must first understand paint. Most of us will see a color and immediately paint our entire room without further ado. When finished, we realize that we are not in love and definitely not obsessed with the outcome. Why is that? Lighting! Natural and artificial light affect all colors in a good or bad way. Now that we’ve discovered that helpful fact, lets’ do this again, the proper way.

Here’s The Proper Way To Prepare Your Home For Painting:

  1. Select hues in a variety of shades.
  2. Ask the paint associate to paint a larger take-home swatch, or purchase the cute sample jars.
  3. Once home, tape the swatch onto designated wall (or paint a section with sample paint).
  4. View the color; morning, noon and night with natural and artificial light.
  5. Repeat until you’ve become obsessed with the color(s) of your choice.

Once we have chosen the paint color(s) we are genuinely obsessed with and we’re ready to get this project started, you must then decide if you are doing a simple or more complex paint job. Explore your creativeness! Creativity with paint is to infinity and beyond. Here are some ideas to assist you with your design decision that will surely leave you “paint obsessed!”

If your plan is to simply paint without any fancy design that is absolutely fine. However, if it crosses your mind to go a little above and beyond, but not overboard with time and labor, consider adding glaze or a higher sheen to your paint.

Faux is a replica of materials. For instance, if you want to make your wall appear to be marble, brick or leather, that’s faux (in a nutshell). There are an array of faux finishes to choose from for home décor. Simply do a little at-home research on textured finishes and head to your local home improvement store. You’ll be surprised at how many finishes you can do yourself.

You are officially obsessed when you paint something wallpaper could have done. You go the extra mile. You get a certain high for the paint brush and freedom. For those of us who are head over heels obsessed with paint… Lets’ have some more fun! Lets’ paint stripes in the living room, a mural in the nursery or on our bedroom ceiling. All rules are out the door. It is time to take a ride on the wild side.
