Sofas are usually the largest piece of furniture in your home (aside from your bed). They are typically the most expensive, too. If you are working on a limited budget and can’t afford to buy a new sofa, it’s still not a reason for you to not have a fab space. Let’s talk pillows. Pillows are such an easy and inexpensive way to take your sofa from drab to fab.
If you’re on a budget, you can get pillows as low as $20 a piece. Now, that cost won’t give you pillows that will last for a very long time, but you can definitely use them to update your sofa until you’re able to make a better investment in décor.
If your sofa is in good shape, but boring, an easy update is just to bring in pillows that make an impact – like a colorful or graphic pillow.
You can also do an eclectic, colorful mix of pillows on bright furniture, even if the sofa is already a bold color, turn up the heat with patterned pillows.
What if your sofa already has pillows on it, and you don’t want to clutter your sofa with additional pillows? Well, get your current sofa pillows covered. Take them to a seamstress or upholstery and have them whip up some new ones. If the original sofa pillows came with your sofa and are the same color/pattern as your sofa, go with fabric that’s a shade or two lighter or darker in color. That will bring much needed interest to your sofa.
When looking for pillows for your sofa, make sure you already have an idea of the style you’re going for in your space and that you only choose colors that’s in line with the style of your space. You don’t want to purchase pillows that you’ll have to bring back because they don’t match or they aren’t really what you want. Have fun during the process and make sure you go with what you love and not what’s trending.
