You just purchased a home and you’re so excited about fixing it up and changing a few things around. It was a long buying process and you are ready for your house to feel like a home. But before you start doing anything, there are four things you need to know before renovating.
Short/Long Term: Decide how long you will be staying at your new residence and figure out your short/long term goals for your renovations. Long term decisions include adding rooms and making your space bigger for your growing family. Short term decisions include renovating your kitchen, bathroom, or basement; making changes to significant parts of the house can help when it’s time to sell it.

Pay Attention to Detail: Now that everything is in order, it’s time to get to the fun stuff; picking out your color scheme and accessories. When picking out your paint, you want colors that flow well from room to room and will accentuate your wall and floor coverings. Also, choose colors that will brighten up small spaces and warm-up a dull area. Don’t be afraid to choose bold colors or accent one wall if you are a little skittish about doing the whole room. Mix and match finishes and color patterns. Spend time picking out accessories, too!
Renovating your home can be a headache, but it will all be worth it when your vision comes to life!
