Once upon a time, a girl dreamed of living in Hollywood. She dreamed of the romantic, fanciful lifestyle she saw on television. She searched high and low for a place to live and quickly realized she will need three full time jobs to afford the one bedroom apartment she fell in love with. Needless to say, she did not give up. She decided to create her own Hollywood, thousands of miles away.
Hollywood is simple, clean, over-the-top, dramatic, elegant, and fanciful to say the least. A Hollywood inspired home allows you to take your creativity to an entire new universe.
Everything about Hollywood décor is unexpected and surprising. One of the benefits of Hollywood design is that it is either simple or over-the-top. After applying these steps, you will have your Hollywood inspired bedroom in no time.
- Wall scape - Walls are covered in paint/wallpaper and/or portraits. Mirrors are a must, and sometimes multiple mirrors. If you’ve ever wanted to create a collage or shrine, now is the perfect time. Choose a wall to mix and match framed pictures, portraits, mirrors and/or letters to arrange to your liking. Remember, drama! Use an entire wall, or gigantic wall scape pieces if you like.
- Bedding - The bed is the statement piece. The bigger the better (even better with a complete bedroom set). Cover your bed in a complete bed set. Feel free to choose something simple, because half of the bed will be covered with pillows. Pillows set the tone. Be sure to mix up the colors, shapes, sizes and materials. When selecting your headboard, choose something finished in an exotic material like leather, velvet, or glass.
- Accessories - Accessories complete the bedroom. As mentioned earlier, the complete bedroom set is ideal. Dressers are great for displaying your designer fragrances and night stands are perfect with a table lamp or centered hanging pendant.
- Benches - Every Hollywood inspired bedroom has a bed bench or chaise lounge.
- Flowers - Fresh or faux is acceptable. Place on night stands or an end table by the chaise lounge.
- Lighting - Chandeliers are total must haves.
- Vanity - If space allows, add a vanity. Vanities exude fantasy.
- Windows - Dress up your windows with floor length drapery. For extreme Hollywood, use textured or printed curtains. For solid colors or sheers, be sure to include a tie.
Feeling overwhelmed? Don’t be! Take your time and remember that this is your Hollywood. In your Hollywood, anything goes. To save time on labor and cost, use items that you already have. Be sure to check out Target, Ikea, and Homegoods. They have a large variety of high end pieces at affordable prices. To make it fun, invite friends over for a Hollywood DIY party. Pull out the paint brushes and hammers, munch on finger foods and get crafty. After all of the fun and work has come to an end, you will rest happily, ever after!
