The slogan “reading is fundamental” is universally popular. Having a space with privacy and serenity will allow your little reader to relax and open their mind while engaged in a great book. A reading nook is a perfect solution for this space.
- Take the space under your stairwell and create a reading haven. It’s easy to create a nook by adding a cushion (or a bunch of pillows), a blanket and soft lighting.
- A canopy nook is another option for a whimsical reading space. Grab a bed canopy to hang in a corner along with a large round floor pillow/cushion.
- This nook can be created with a using a single futon chair in a corner or placing a twin mattress on the floor and piling up pillows on it.
- The floor is another great, inexpensive option for a nook area. Simply pile up some floor pillows or a beanbag chair and add some shelves above to hold the books. Voila!
It goes without saying that reading can be beneficial in getting children prepared for school. In the words of Dr. Seuss, “The more that you read, the more things you will know.
