If you’re planning on having a get-together for Labor Day with your family and friends, décor for your party could be on-point even if you’re short on funds.
A fun way to decorate for small parties and barbeques is to set up mason jars with chalkboard labels of guests that are attending with decorative straws. We love to have them set up on a table with forks and spoons on display in cute vases.
Mason jars are very inexpensive and usually come in sets of 12 for $6-8. You can find them at your local grocery or craft store. You’ll also want decorative straws or picks, and chalkboard paint that you can also purchase at a crafts store.
To create your chalkboard label, you want to first make sure your jar is clean (inside and out). Then you’ll paint on your label in whatever shape you desire. You can do a small rectangle, or use a stripe to go around the entire jar, or use a stencil to make your desired shape. Then, you’ll write the names of each of your guests. You can also add any embellishments you’d like (like ribbons, glitter, etc.). Add your cute straw or pick and its party time!
Chalkboard paint is washable, so you can use your jars again and again by changing the name on the labels.
What’s your Labor Day décor plans this year? If you recreate your own chalkboard paint mason jars, be sure to share it with us by tagging #moderndomesticEGL on all your social media photos.
